Tours and Trips

MYSO believes that travel and performance enrich the musical experience, builds confidence, enhances cultural sensitivity, and inspires opportunities to connect with other young musicians and audiences. Thus we strive to provide and reward our musicians and families with an end-of-the-season trip. Below are some of the venues and places MYSO has visited over the years.


The Senior and Junior Orchestras attended a competition in Dallas, TX.



MYSO performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.



MYSO traveled to Beijing, China and the Intermediate Strings and Beginning Cadets performed in competition in Orlando, FL (Disneyworld).



MYSO traveled to Europe where they performed and toured London, Paris, Vienna, Salzburg, and Munich.



Beginning Cadets and Intermediate Strings performed in competition in Orlando, FL (Universal Studios).



MYSO performed on the American Queen Steamboat boarding at the Oak Alley Plantation in New Orleans, LA.



MYSO performed in the University of Southern Mississippi Wind & Brass Ensemble Competition in Hattiesburg, MS and in the Music Fest in Orlando, FL. A MYSO ensemble performed at the International Ballet Competition Artist Reception in Jackson, MS.



MYSO performed and toured in Costa Rica (San Jose, San Carlos, La Fortuna, Nicoya and Samara). 



MYSO performed in New Orleans, LA.


MYSO performed for Disney audiences in the Disney Performing Arts Onstage Festival in Orlando, FL.

MYSO toured and performed in San Antonio, TX at the Six Flags Fiesta Celebrate the Arts Program. We attended a performance of the San Antonio Symphony Orchestra.


MYSO toured various attractions in Chicago, IL and attended a performance of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
