MYSO Visits San Antonio

Early on the morning of May 26, about 45 MYSO musicians and parents loaded a bus headed for a fun-filled Memorial Day weekend in San Antonio, TX. Twelve hours later, we arrived at our destination to take in the history, sights, food, entertainment, and beauty of this friendly southern city.

Our trip included a visit to the historic Alamo. Our hotel, the Drury Inn and Suites, was located on the scenic Riverwalk and was actually a converted bank designed in the art deco style of architecture. The original bank vault is on view in the basement of the hotel.

MYSO performed onstage at the Arts program at Six Flags Fiesta to an enthusiastic audience and then enjoyed a day of thrill rides and cooling off at the waterpark.

The highlight of the trip was attending the San Antonio Symphony Orchestra performance of the music of John Williams at the beautiful, modern Tobin Performance Center. A great time was had by all!
